Halloween is just around the corner

October 26, 2007 at 8:51 pm (Uncategorized)

This year I am slightly bummed about Halloween which is saying a lot because I love the fall and Halloween is one of those times of the year I look forward to. But I live in an apartment building that doesn’t decorate never mind hand out candy. Wtf ! All they have done is put a small glass pumpkin ornament on their flower display is the lobby it is kind of depressing. I am so deperate to get into the spooky festive mood that I have resorted to watching Halloween cartoons – ok, so I like catoons so sue me. Television has even let me down it seems the movie channels where I live have really sucky ones. Seriously if I see another Jason, Chucky or Freddy movie I will scream and it won’t be from fright.

Where have all the good vampire films gone? Well I know that 30 days of night at the theatre is a vamp film but I want something I can watch and enjoy at home. I know, I am probably asking for way too much but hey that is me for you. I have signed up for NANO, has anyone else? I am sure that everybody probably has but couldn’t help asking. On the first of November I will leave a post about the project I am going to be working on for it. And to really torture myself what I do on NANO I will not add to my Seventy Days of Sweat so you won’t be seeing any Dark Attraction word counts there.

Tonight I am going to be at the Cobblestone chat at 8pm (Eastern).

Day Seven: The evils of Sweat

October 22, 2007 at 12:41 am (Uncategorized)

Ok here is my moment of truth I got to day four doing at least 1,500 a day and then day five hit – nada, zip not a single word done that day. No, problem right? Wrong. Day six was like forcing myself to give birth I wrote only 500 words and every single one was a pain to get out. Today is day seven with just a few hours to day eight I am just getting my notes in order so I think I will be doing days seven/eight together – well, I am a night hawk most of the time anyway.

But the good news my second version of Ashes is coming along nicely I just started but I am certain (unless something massive and unforseen happens) I should have it done and submitted in mid to late November. I like polishing my work but then I reach a point that if I don’t submit I will do nothing but continue polishing which is a bad thing. My trick is the first version wing it – just write what comes to you and try not to edit yet. The second version is when all the work comes into play – editing, making sure everything fits, etc. After that I have one last step I don’t look at it for a few days. Why? Because I find when I take a short breathier from it and go back I notice some common basic grammer and spelling mistakes. When I have done these three steps I am comfortable enough to send it out.

Seventy Days of Sweat = EEK!!!

October 17, 2007 at 12:22 am (Uncategorized)

Yup, once again the title says it all. It has started and so far so good 1500 today and yesterday = 3k. But my printer has decided that it needs a professional cleaning or tune up and AJ is still MIA and with me being oh so sore due to long car rides the last few days I am so going to be doing some old fashioned hand writing tomorrow. Besides I am told that I am addicted to being online – Me! Addicted -Unbelieveable!!! So yes I will be taking a break from the computer for a few days maybe until friday but no longer than that.

I am so freaking tired I hate this up and down weather, I can so feel a cold coming on. So later tonight I will make a section on the side bar for my seventy days of sweat progress. Plus a peek of what you will find here next week.

I signed up

October 8, 2007 at 5:34 am (Uncategorized)

Yup I signed up for the seventy days of sweat second round. Am I insane? Perhaps. More than likely but what else is new. I left a comment like I was supposed to but of course with my mind full of other things at the moment it probably made like next to no sense at all.

It officially starts Monday October 15 and then I will have a little progress section on my side bar so track my daily goal of 1,500 words. At the same time I am signing for NANO with a project I am currently plotting out just for it another vampire story (might’ve mentioned it before lol) the working title so far is Dark Attraction.

I just finished plotting A Haunting Passion set in New England and I am already loving it! Ashes is on hold for another day or two (I have it done just need to dive in the edits and second version). That is it for now.

Why Vampires?

October 5, 2007 at 2:11 am (Uncategorized, vampires) ()

Ah, the question that I have been asking myself of late. Since I am currently writing two projects with vampires and starting one next month with NANO I decided to see for myself why. Let’s face it Vampires are one of if not the most sexy montster out there hands down – and why is this? Perhaps because in most stories and films the vampire lures its victims to them with seduction (sometimes a little mind control – but I am not focusing on that). You can’t help but scream get away but all the time a secret part of you thinks what a way to go. They make the ulitmate lover because most often they are the last or only lover their victim will ever have.

Could anyone think of anyting more terrifying than an villain using seduction as the perfect weapon? With just a cock of the eyebrow, an intense gaze and the briefest touch in passing. When vampires are the villain we know that they must come to an end but they do leace their mark. While in romances we can play with them so much more they can be good, bad, evil or a little in between and can go on forever.

Well, I know why I enjoy working with vampires – I was going to do a post on the history of the vampire but that sounded well cold.

October 3, 2007 at 4:21 pm (Uncategorized)

Yup, this pre-arranging blog schedule has worked for day one anyway. I have decided to make Wednesday’s Writing news and update day pretty much every week. Sometimes I might have another subject with or without the news but most of the time it will be something to look forward to (for me anyway). Now onto the progress report;

Projects I have worked on faithful for the past week;

Banshee Tale (working title) aimed for Freya’s Bower Anthology

Fallen Hero – Novella length for/in Brava Novella contest – still another 4k to go

Only for Tonight – Novella length aimed for Cobblestone

Vampire Oracle: Ashes – Novella length for Cobblestone – Just about to start re-write.

On-going Projects that haven’t been worked on much at all this past week;

Aroused and Cursed – Novella length

The Past and the Present – Mainstream – Novel length

Projects in the Plotting Stage;

A Haunting Passion and The Gift (working title – idea from a writing prompt)

The progress bars will be updated when I have more time, but time is short today so stay tuned.
